Hallowe'en in Porto

It is said to have its origins in Samhain, a Celtic pagan ritual that signalled the end of the harvest and the beginning of a long winter. The Catholic faith absorbed this ritual by calling it All Hallow's Eve and eventually Hallowe'en or Halloween. In the New World, Dia de Los Muertos crossed this period of the calendar with Aztec and indigenous Mexican practices.

In 2024, all this is just a good pretext for events ranging from workshops to cinema, from noise concerts to children's stories.

5 years of Passos no Escuro

On 30 October 2019, Steps in the Dark had its first screening at Passos Manuel with Dario Argento's Profondo Rosso. Since then, it's been five years of bringing us the best trash cinema in the world.

This Halloween they bring us the classic of cult classics. Evil Dead 2 is a non-stop riot, with Bruce Campbell holding a shotgun in one hand and a chainsaw in the other.

Witching Hour

Conceptual Masks

On the holiday itself, Jubilant hosts an unusual costume contest: using only recycled material, the contestants must interpret the theme of ‘routine labour, the struggle for housing, unequal rights and state oppression’.

Then the party continues with a concert by Trasgo, a performance by Fermento and a DJ set by Nance Falece.
