In April, there are hundreds of events taking place in the city that are good reasons to get out of the house - come rain or shine. A highlight is the program of the 9th edition of DDD - Festival Dias da Dança, with 27 shows and half a hundred performances. One of the shows making its debut at this festival is Os Gigantes, by Victor Hugo Pontes & Dançando com a Diferença. The choreographer and director told us that this piece “arrives like a collective dream, where reality and fantasy mix”. To read in the section Quem conta o Porto acrescenta um ponto.
Contemporary dance is precisely the focus of the programming of the A PiSCiNA association, based in the old Sport Club do Porto swimming pool, which we visited at Código Postal 4000 e Tal. 80 is the number of candles that the Cineclube do Porto, the oldest in the country, is blowing out this month. We went to find out what activities are planned throughout the year to mark the anniversary.
And because reading is freedom - and in the wake of International Children's Book Day, marked on April 2, the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, the well-known author of children's stories - this month's report is about bookstores dedicated to little readers. We visited three independent children's bookshops in the city - Ave Azul, Papa-Livros and Salta Folhinhas.
In Conjugar o Porto, we walked with Ana Deus through her memories of the city. The artist, who is about to release the new Três Tristes Tigres album, shared memories of places like the Rivoli.

In Portografia, we take a look at “Bairro da Bouça”, designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, an example of the Portuguese revolutionary process and the social housing produced during the SAAL (Serviço de Apoio Ambulatório Local) period, until 1977.
