The first film by acclaimed filmmaker Hong Sang-soo, The Pig That Fell Into the Well is known for being one of the defining works of independent Korean cinema in the 90s. With a dose of dark humour, the narrative was written by four authors, each responsible for developing a character. After that, the director gave the actors the freedom to improvise. The result is a story that follows four characters whose lives intersect in a chaotic way, tackling themes such as failure, infidelity, desire and disenchantment in personal relationships - right up to a crime of passion. The version we present here has been restored by the Korean Film Archive.
