Tânia Dinis’s relationship with the moving image is intimately connected to photography. Drawing on her own family archive as well as found images, the director, actor and visual artist plays with layers, cut-outs and sonic landscapes to create stories and narrative threads that are at the same time independent and related to the original materials. These working methods result in artistic objects in various formats, from films to exhibition pieces, and from performance to stage work. This breadth of practice has led to a range of collaborations with institutions such as the Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, Teatro Experimental do Porto, GNRation and film festivals including Porto/Post/Doc and Family Film Project.
