Greetings, Klangforscher (Sound Explorers)!
After a great start of the studio workshop series, in which we freely experimented with all the equipment, the time has come for the second instalment, where we delve into the world of Klangrealisation (sonic realization) utilising all the beautiful machines in Sonoscopia’s vintage studio. During this workshop, you, divided into two Klanggruppen (sound groups) of five, will embark on a sonic journey, (re)constructing the aural landscapes described within a score. We will utilize oscillators, filters, modulators, and spatialization equipment to breathe life into the abstract sonic notations on the score. Your score transcends traditional musical notation. It is a map of sonic phenomena – a guide to manipulate these Klangwerkzeuge and sculpt the raw materials of sound. Prepare to translate written descriptions into a dynamic interplay of electronic timbres, evolving textures, and spatial movements.
The Task:
Each Klanggruppe will be assigned a different section of the score. Through collaboration and experimentation, you will strive to translate the composer's vision into a tangible sonic experience. Utilize the full potential of the studio, pushing the boundaries of electronic sound creation. Remember, this is a Klangforschung (sonic research) expedition. Discussion, experimentation, and a willingness to explore the unknown are paramount. There are no wrong answers, only sonic discoveries waiting to be unearthed.
