Any myth is nothing more than a mirror. A reflection of an imagined humanity that is already dead, informing (conforming? conditioning?) a humanity that is still and always learning. We look at the stories that shaped who we were in order to continue building common ground, understanding. But this process, of re-reading and re-telling ancient history that never happened, is also a war without quarter, because power over these stories, over what they symbolise, what they say and don't say, what they hide and deny and allow to be understood or forgotten, is political power. Revolutionary. Identitarian. Apocalyptic.
