We are delighted to announce that we will be holding a Shibari Performance with Inma Sáez Gazo & Calzxn Roto, ‘Deshacer’, on 30 November at 8pm, right after the Kinky Market.
The artists, based in Barcelona, are coming to Portugal for an intensive shibari workshop on 1 December and the night before, they will give us a public session.
Places are limited and prior registration is required!
Participants in the ‘Archetypes of Shibari’ workshop are automatically included on the attendance list for the performance.
About the artists:
CALZXN ROTO
‘Migrante Sudaca, Marica NB’ (South American migrant, non-binary queer), who, through the exploration of her identity, finds herself performing virtually at the pandemic parties of ORGIAS SANITARIAS (Chile).
Based in BCN, the performance has continued as a gogodancer in some clubs, as well as in other underground movements of the techno collective.
On the other hand, they have also found a space in BDSM, mainly at Lefou Royal and DeSade Festival, these being spaces of physical, identity and sexual dissidence, a haven in which to share their being and existence.
They got to know Inma thanks to the collaborative work with writer Dennise Valeria, developing the performative action ‘Que otros sean lo normal’ as part of the HABITAR LOS MARGENES exhibition at the Barceloneta Civic Centre.
INMA SÁEZ GAZO
Inma Sáez (she & menopause) is from Andalusia, living in Barcelona after many years in London.
She is a Shibari artist, performer, activist, teacher, movement researcher and creator of performance spaces.
Inma has been exploring her interest in Shibari and BDSM practices for over 5 years, studying Shibari intensively with Pauline Massimo and training with artists such as Barkas & Addie, Akechi Kanna & Kagura, Hua Hua, Saara Rei, Boris Mosafir, among others.
She is also trained in the Laban Method of Movement Analysis and studied Performance Design at Central Saint Martins University in London. Her research is multidisciplinary, focusing on Japanese bondage, the performing arts, Butoh dance and the artistic, social, psychological and ethical intersections between them.
Inma collaborates with local and international multidisciplinary spaces as an educator in shibari and various movement-based artistic fields, and continues to produce provocative work as an independent artist.
