The Remix Ensemble's season kicks off with a programme centred on Portugal. It's no surprise, then, that this is a return to one of the great ambassadors of our culture, Emmanuel Nunes. It's also a heartfelt celebration of the close relationship Nunes has built with the Remix Ensemble over the years. The work on the programme, Duktus, is one of many possible examples of the composer's genius. We're also talking about national soil when we present Fermata, a piece that the magnificent Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös wrote in Porto, during an appearance at Casa da Música, posing a question about "covid" times: "Centuries of growing social tension seem to have lit the fuse these days. The question is: how long is the thread and how long will it take for the bomb to detonate?" The programme is rounded off with a piece by Vasco Mendonça, who is today one of the most played Portuguese composers in the world and is Composer in Residence 2024 at Casa da Música. — Casa da Música
