Negentropia
Barrocas Leiter

Enter a post-apocalyptic and dystopian universe, where the last man seeks a revelation in his final days, in an extravagant attempt to survive in a desolate and fragmented land. “Negentropia”, directed and conceived by Hugo Paquete, offers a dense sensory experience, inspired by the compositions of Jani Christou, elevating them to unique sonic and visual heights.

This piece, originally created for the site-specific format of the Porto Planetarium dome, has now been adapted for the Dínamo Gallery.

On stage, baritone Rui Baeta embodies “the last man”, accompanied by electronic manipulations by Hugo Paquete and guest musicians such as Pedro Carvalho and Ianina Khmelik.

The work explores themes such as radical ecology, astronomy, mysticism and the human condition in the face of the apocalyptic, offering a disruptive fusion of theater, music and technology. The performers, Bruno Sousa and Amanda Duda, are noise generators, evoking memories of a lost humanity, while the narrative takes us on a cathartic ritual, where myth and ritual operate as a response to the collapse of civilization.

The project is funded by Direção Geral das Artes (Dgartes) and República Portuguesa / Cultura.
