INSTITUTO presents the project “Máquina de toque” (Touch Machine) by Soraia Gomes Teixeira, an exhibition-laboratory that offers a material experience centered on the act of touch. “Máquina de toque” is an object that permits one body to be touched by another. It functions as a machine that reveals the tensions within reactions, gestures, and behaviors that emerge from unexpected closeness.
Soraia Gomes Teixeira (1990) lives and works independently in Porto. Her project practice is based on research and continuous exploration of various social themes, with her recent works focusing on human social and relational behaviors. Through objects and, at times, their symbolic aspects, her work raises questions and proposes possibilities for relationships between people and across past and future times. Currently, alongside her professional practice, she is a guest lecturer in Design at the University of Minho and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Art and Design Research at EINA - Centre Universitari de Disseny i Arte de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The exhibition is open until November 17, from Wednesday to Friday, between 10 am and 6 pm, or by appointment.
On November 17 (Sunday), as an exception, it will be open from 3 pm to 6 pm, with the designer present as part of Circuitos’24, organized by Ágora.
Organization: INSTITUTE, paulo moreira architectures
Support: Direção-Geral das Artes, panoramah!, Oficina Mescla, TAU!
