Inspired by the 50th anniversary of April 25th, Mão Morta, who also celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2024, conceived the show Viva la Muerte! as an artistic contribution to the defense of democracy. The repertoire, composed from scratch, draws significant inspiration from revolutionary figures such as José Mário Branco, Adriano Correia de Oliveira, Zeca Afonso, Ary dos Santos, and others – artists who lived through the Salazarist fascism and transformed the absence of freedom into the driving force behind their protest music. These influences are absorbed and reimagined through the raw and experimental rock of the band from Braga. Denouncing the spirit of the times, where manipulated concepts blur into their opposites, has become a creative imperative for Mão Morta – and here they are once again.
