Marco Malasomma is a composer, percussionist and electroacoustic musician. He focuses his research on the construction of complex and deep sound architectures created through the use and reworking of field recordings, concrete sounds and instruments processed in real time. In 2012 he founded WHITE NOISE GENERATOR, a research group and record label committed to the dissemination of new artistic languages. He has collaborated with some of the most interesting names in improvised music, electroacoustics and noise. With White Noise Generator he has been responsible for the organization and artistic direction of the EXPERIMENT #0, 1, 2 festivals, the ELETTROCIVICA festival and the international sound research meeting CLOCKSTOP. He also curated the new languages area of the TIMEKODE Festival. His sound research finds fertile ground in the interaction with other artistic forms, enabling him to work as a sound designer for film, television, theater, dance and multimedia performances. He has participated both as a soloist and in ensembles at some of the most important European research festivals including MIA (Portugal), Sons libérés (Belgium), and in Italy at Flussi, Time Zones, Milano Film Festival. In 2014 his solo project ERGO at the opening for Australian musician BEN FROST. Two years later, under the same moniker, he presented the album Misophonie, followed by an Italian tour that ended in October 2016. On 1 November he performed solo for the first time as MARCO MALASOMMA, abandoning the name ERGO, on the occasion of the only Italian date of the American band MATMOS with the project Perfect Lives, dedicated to the American composer ROBERT ASHLEY.
