Lauren Maganete's photographs are predominantly in black and white, but the world she brings us goes far beyond the band that mediates the two opposites. If we wanted to define the central theme of her work, we'd say it's the world, because her photographs convey the wonder that leads her to capture ephemeral moments, invisible to the ordinary eye. Lauren dwells on the fracture of a door, a glimpse of light, the flight of a bird, the scowl of a performer, polished shoes and worn-out shoes, the textures of a face or a tree trunk, the veins on the inside of a leaf.
In his photographs, which are fixed moments, we feel time in a dimension other than that of clocks, because it is the time of astonishment and wonder.
