'Le jour il fait nuit' is the title of the upcoming exhibition at Kubik Porto, a project by André Cepeda that brings together a group of artists whose works have never been presented in the city. Cepeda's connection with these artists is marked by a strong emotional bond, either from having worked with them at his Blues Studio or from having met them in other circumstances within the art circuit. Cepeda's Ciclo da Cobra project has been shown in other spaces, proposing a relationship between music and art. Now, at Kubik Porto, the exhibition features artists such as: Adriana João, Ana Almeida, Anne Lefebvre, Cristiana Ortiga, Diogo Simões, Fala Mariam, Leonardo Martins, Marta Mateus, Mariana Maia Rocha, Miguel Proença, Pedro Leitão, Rui Moreira. The show will also include a concert by Fala Mariam 3 and a performance by Adriana João on the opening day.
This group of artists engages in dialogue within the exhibition, establishing a connection between them. What is visible is a form of resistance and discontent with current times, expressed through the art they create and the encounters they promote with each other.
The title of the exhibition, Le jour il fait nuit, is taken from a text written by Al Berto on April 16, 1986, in homage to the death of Jean Genet, titled "Jean, o pescador do suquet". The text was published in the introduction of the book O Estúdio de Alberto Giacometti, by Jean Genet, edited by Assírio & Alvim, in Lisbon, in 1988.
