[Cultura em Expansão] - JÚLIO CÉSAR

Companhia do Chapitô brings its show JÚLIO CÉSAR to Miragaia, a creation based on the possible life of this historical figure, eternalised by great storytellers from Plutarch to Shakespeare. Julius Caesar was a Roman general and a man of state. A member of the first Triumvirate, he led the Roman armies in the conquest of Gaul, before defeating his political rival Pompey in a civil war. He proclaimed himself Perpetual Dictator of Rome, a position he didn't hold for long, having been assassinated by a group of senators who considered him a threat to the Republic.

Exploring historical inconsistencies, taking liberties in the treatment of documented facts with the ‘dis-rigour’ that already characterises Chapitô, here is a deconsecration. Whether Julius Caesar was a tyrant who deserved to die or a hero who was brutally murdered by conspirators.

murdered by conspirators, let the Devil choose. There are no heroes or villains here, there are circumstances and cunning people who make a living. There are also less cunning people who do as they're told. And virtuous people who do what has to be done.
