"Brasília: From Utopia to Capital" is a multifaceted initiative aimed at sparking interest and valuing the artistic and cultural heritage of the city of Brasília on an international level. It will establish cultural connections and promote the recognition of Brasília as an example of innovative urban design and unique cultural heritage.
The program includes the following activities:
From August 1 to October 27: Visual arts exhibition "Brasília: From Utopia to Capital," showcasing an extensive collection of over 300 works of art, photographs, historical documents, and models.
From August 1 to 4: Film festival "Brasília Alive," featuring films that address various themes such as the city's history, its cultural diversity, and urban and social challenges.
From October 22 to 24: Book launches and the "Heritage, Tourism, Sustainability, and the CPLP Seminar," promoting awareness and dialogue on the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage, as well as sustainable tourism.
The exhibition is curated by Danielle Athayde and the project is supported by the Conexão Cultura DF program and the Culture Support Fund of DF, initiatives by the Secretariat of State for Culture and Creative Economy and the Secretariat of State for Tourism of the Government of the Federal District.
All initiatives will be hosted by the Instituto Pernambuco - Porto, a private, non-profit association established in 1996. This association's main objective is to strengthen ties between Brazil and Portugal, and secondarily between Brazil and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). Hosting the project aligns with the institution's mission to be a welcoming space for Brazilians in Portugal, as well as for Portuguese people interested in Brazil and its sustainable development, integrating all those interested in the life and culture of both countries.
