"Tsunami Flowers" is the 3rd project by the Pompom Travel Collective, when the world was still dealing with a pandemic in 2021. After a complicated phase of social restrictions, Sandra Simões felt the extreme need to create. It made sense to talk about women, a cross-cutting theme that is still pressing today. Women are the order of the day, the female universe is complex in its particularities and an inexhaustible source of inspiration. From theory to practice was a short step, and at the end of 2021, rehearsals began. In March 2022, the group premiered the show in Lisbon, at the Auditorium of the Liceu Camões. Topics such as female sexuality, motherhood, the relationship with the body, equality and gender identity were addressed; always in a didactic way, using humour and music as a complement. The intention was not to erect banners or take up positions of absolute truth, but rather to avoid value judgements and prejudices, leading the audience to draw their own conclusions. There are seven actresses on stage, aged between 23 and 65. Audio-visuals were also used at two points during the show, where several women generously gave their testimonies about what it means to be a woman and/or told personal stories specific to the female universe.
