EN
Starting with a major intervention and installation by artist Maria Imaginário (including the painting of the Acoustic Shell), the Children's Festival programme takes everyone on a journey through the world of fantasy. During this (long) weekend, there will be a commented concert at the Concha Acústica that invites youngsters to reflect on the power of music (MAIS ALTO!, 1 June), a Mini-Porto Blues Fest with students from the Porto Guitar Academy (2 June) and a dance show with the participation of the Academia em Movimento, with ‘Crianças em Movimento’.
But the Festival also extends to Lago dos Cavalinhos, with concerts by the pBp choir and Rockschool, magic shows by José Cambra and capoeira demonstrations.
The Children's Festival also allows you to get your hands dirty, with workshops for everyone. In a space curiously called Mini São João, you'll be challenged to build the various icons of the city's festivities, such as paper sardines, windmills, São João balloons and the houses of the famous Cascata Sanjoanina.
There will also be a space dedicated to learning circus techniques (Espaço Mini Trengo) and a place dedicated to urban art (where the little ones will be challenged to spray paint and create tote bags).
One of the places that will arouse the most curiosity will be the exhibition of emergency vehicles and means, with the collaboration of the Porto Fire Brigade Regiment, the Municipal Police, the Public Security Police and Civil Protection.
There's also time for physical exercise and sport, with street basketball, canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding, chess matches and lots of traditional games.
