Looking for something beautiful, I came across the image of the swan. Its graceful neck and pure white colour have inspired ballets, songs and legends for a long time. It is also a creature that lives between earth, water and air, a true sign of transformation. A year ago, I painted a series of small pictures of swans. This year, I've used as the montages materials, images from children's science books, where the swans are joined by other fleeting images such as candles, flowers, butterflies, and moments from film stills I took around the Iberian Peninsula a few times years ago. All this floats above a sea of fountain pen ink. - Lauren Moya Ford
