EVERY BRILLIANT THING is a unique and inspiring story about depression and suicide, particularly their impact on young people and families. In the end, it leaves viewers with a message of strength and hope, focusing on everything that makes life so extraordinary.
The story begins from the perspective of a 7-year-old child. Her mother is depressed and when confronted with the place her mother is in, the daughter begins to write a list of all the things that make life worth living. A child's arguments to help her mum keep going: ice cream, staying up late, watching the sunrise, etc.
Now, 30 years later, the child has grown up, but he's still writing his list. What began as a naïve attempt to survive has turned out to be a profound truth - that sublime things are with us every day.
