Diário do Invisível

"Diário do Invisível" [Journal of the Invisible] by Nara Rosetto, curated by Tales Frey, explores the centrality of the body in the artist's visual poetics, even if it is not always explicitly present. In a normalizing and enabling society, the artist denounces, through objects, videos, and photographs, the symbolic violence suffered by non-hegemonic bodies, such as her own, marked by diagnoses of Ehler Danlos Syndrome, Fuchs Dystrophy and Fibromyalgia.

Diário do Invisível is connected to the artist's theoretical and practical master's thesis and research, developed at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto under the guidance of Filipa Cruz, and will be accompanied by a public presentation on October 30th at 14:00.

Nara Rosetto, from São Paulo (Brazil) lives and works in Oporto, where she is currently a finalist for a master's degree in Intermedia Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
Based on her experience of dynamic disabilities, she uses the themes of vulnerability, invisibility and the body as recurring subjects. She has participated as a guest artist in Decolonization Praxis and the Art of Talking Disability in Berlin, Blauverschiebung Performance Festival nr.14 in Leipzig, Germany, Every Woman Biennial in New York, USA and three different editions of Porto Femme in Portugal. She was a resident artist at demonstra.pt, was selected for a critic mentorship by Anna Bella Geiger in a program at MASP, and won PROAC Expresso Direto 39/2021 with the project "pequenos gestos - writing with crochet".
