"Tupy or not tupy, that's the question" ("Tupy or not tupy, xukui purandusaua"), will be the theme of the conference led by indigenous artist Denílson Baniwa, an "anthropophagic" artist who appropriates Western languages in order to decolonise them. The event, which is open to the public and organised by the School of Arts, will take place on 22 February at 6.30pm in the Ilídio Pinho Auditorium of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto.
This conference is part of the cycle "It wasn't Cabral: reviewing silences and omissions", a programme co-curated by Lilia Schwarcz (a Brazilian anthropologist and historian) and Nuno Crespo, which includes an agenda of concerts, conferences, exhibitions and performances, taking place between 16 February and 24 May. The cycle is organised by the Escola das Artes, in partnership with the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and Princeton University (USA).
