Operating at the intersection of ambient, contemporary classical, and drone music, Deaf Center is a Norwegian duo comprised of multi-instrumentalist Erik K. Skodvin (also known for his work as Svarte Greiner) and pianist Otto A. Totland. Although Deaf Center has only released a handful of albums over the last 20 years—including their cult classic debut Pale Ravine and the latest Low Distance—the importance of their work lies in its timelessness and how it masterfully superimposes the earthly and the cosmic, the human and the ethereal unknown. Deaf Center will return to Portugal for a show at Understage, Porto, on January 17, 2025. Opening the night will be Rauelsson, the musical alias of Raúl Pastor Medall, a Spanish artist known both for his intimate folk songs and ambient experimental soundscapes, showcased through albums like Réplica, Vora, and the upcoming Niu. — Amplificasom
