Qiaochu is working on how the mechanisms of the body correspond to the mechanisms of city facilities, driven by football matches. They are fascinated by the circulation of fluids within the body and the environment—urine, alcohol, fountains, sewers, and rivers—caused by the actions and emotions of football fans, from the bloating bladder to the tiring ball. Qiaochu invited two artists, Maria João Costa Espinho @simbionte and Miguel @mmigual, to be coaches and train them to 'become a football fan,' experimenting with movement and verbal improvisation around different city spots.
Big thanks to @mmiguel @simbionte for the contribution on research process.
They have shown works at Van Abbe Museum (2021), Het Nieuwe Instituut (2021), Framer Framed (2022, 2023), de Fabriek (2023), Garage Rotterdam, and others, and have performed at Flam #9, Worm, De Singel, and Veem House of Performance.
