Suplicant, incandescent, melancholic, passionate. This is Live in Oslo (Clean Feed), an album that captures the inaugural meeting between the Trespass Trio – composed of Per Zanussi (double bass), Martin Küchen (baritone and soprano saxophones), and Raymond Strid (drums) – and Portuguese trumpeter Susana Santos Silva, a rising name in free improvisation. The connection is so seamless that it feels as if it comes from a well-established quartet, with Silva’s contributions adding a sublime dimension to the trio’s dark, cinematic compositions. It is a seminal album, characterized by intimate exchange and slow-burning intensity. Meanwhile, João Barradas’ trio joins one of today’s most important creative minds, saxophonist David Binney, to debut the new recording project Aperture. The original pieces, composed by the highly regarded Portuguese accordionist, currently Artist in Residence at Casa da Música, were specially created for this occasion, exploring themes of space, freedom, and architecture. — Casa da Música
