It was about seven years ago that Flávia Pereira, a native of Beira Baixa, fell in love with fado. By 2021, she had already won the Amália Rodrigues Competition in Fundão. She delved into the roots of the genre, learned as much as she could from the early fado singers, and curated a repertoire of lesser-performed songs for what would become her concerts. Today, she sings regularly in Lisbon’s fado houses and at festivals across the country.
