The visual device "Calibragem," originally commissioned for the exhibition “Emancipação do Vivente” at Galerias Municipais de Lisboa [Municipal Galleries of Lisbon], stems from a series of urban research works focused on the perception of European territory. Frame Colectivo collected images related to narratives of Eurocentric and nationalist supremacy, filming both urban and rural routes. The installation, curated by the Museum for the Displaced, includes two videos and a text mural in clay letters written by Sónia Baptista. It creates a poetic landscape that materializes words, memory, and collective responsibility in shaping Europe's urban and rural future. "Calibragem" arises from the urgency to formulate alternatives in the perception of identity and urban practices. These images, captured without lenses and upside down, force us to contemplate and complete the European landscape, interfering with the image we are familiar with.
Frame Colectivo is an architecture studio based in Lisbon, exploring the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and art through interdisciplinary collaborations. Since 2013, they have focused their research on public and semi-public urban spaces, where they implement contextualized collective projects. They design interventions aimed at questioning dominant urban micropolitics and promoting citizen participation.
