Since its creation in April 2021, UNA has been dedicated to promoting the self-mapping of black professionals in the arts in Portugal. The act of mapping our own narratives is a political gesture within the anti-racist struggle, which aims to transform not only the artistic field, but society in general, expanding more democratic practices in power structures, both public and private, that perpetuate the exclusion of black artists and other professionals. In this way, UNA sees self-mapping as a tool for struggle that transcends the personal sphere, but rather as a collective action that drives systemic changes, promoting a fairer and more representative society. Fifty years after the Carnation Revolution and three years since its creation, the UNA has been invited to take part in the DDD on 25 April 2024. This day will have three moments, from which we intend to think about the arts, the city, corporeality, discourse and programming as possibilities for creating new narratives and forms of imagination, whether through re-signification or fictionalisation. - UNA - União Negra das Artes
