In an undefined time and place, the knight Gonthramm falls in love with a stunning young woman. However, his love is destroyed by Banschi, an evil entity. Inspired by a Nordic legend, also used by Leconte de Lisle in the poem "Les Elfes", this visual essay that was disowned by the director himself was shot in 1929 and premiered on November 14th, 1930, at a private screening in Lisbon. However, it was only shown to the public 50 years later, in 1984, in a retrospective that the Cinemateca Portuguesa dedicated to the filmmaker. Batalha curates and presents the premiere of the work in a film-concert format, with live music by Ilusão Gótica, the experimental project of the members of Conferência Inferno.
Screening presented by José Bértolo (curator)
