The 1st edition of the Asterisco Festival will take place on 6 and 7 July 2024 with 8 performing artists, through shows, conversation, dinner, a party and an extra workshop in partnership with other neighbouring spaces, in order to boost the art scene in Bonfim and the surrounding area, guarantee access to culture and promote sustainable practices in the community.
The programme brings together different local, national and international emerging and/or social minority artists with the aim of creating an alternative and experimental cultural scene. Starting with Konstantina Tsagianni and Cat Winter's multimedia piece ‘Por Causa das Palavras’ about the repetition of mistakes and failures, followed by the show ‘VIA’ directed by Ana Mula, which addresses environmental concerns caused by ‘constant unbridled acceleration’, followed by Margarida Montenÿ and Carminda Soares‘ exercise in intimacy and pulsating resistance in “Simulacro” and Eríc Amorim dos Santos’ solo ‘GA’, which uses locking - a dance style characterised by blocking and acceleration - as a metaphor for stuttering, until we plunge into a journey guided by the beat of Ghetthoven. As an extra activity, Diana Niepce will facilitate a laboratory that investigates the rewriting of the body within metamorphosis.
